Unboxing the Mass Effect Legendary Cache

Transcript

Did you manage to pre-order the Mass Effect Legendary Cache? Do you want to see how it looks?

Hello! Long time, no see. Ashe here. If you're new, time to time I come out of the abyss to share new BioWare news. And this time, I'm here with an unboxing and breakdown of the Mass Effect Legendary cache -- basically a Collector's Edition for the Mass Effect trilogy remaster coming out next month. We'll go over everything that's in it, and if it's worth the $150 price tag.

Next month we'll also do a Let's Play of the remaster when it comes out; it'll be here on Youtube and on Twitch, so be sure to subscribe!

Let's look at the Legendary Cache!

For full disclosure, I received this thing as a gift but was not paid for the video. But that said, thanks BioWare. Appreciate you.

The Cache includes an N7 Acceptance Letter, a paragon/renegade spinner pin, a CD metal case, two canvas art prints of FemShep and the Normandy, and a 1:1 scaled replica of the N7 helmet... that lights up.

The N7 Acceptance Letter is a Congratulations from Captain Anderson with his signature at the bottom. I don't want to spoil the letter, but feel free to pause the video if you like. There's nothing on the back of this letter, but it's a nice thing to see and is the first thing you see when opening the cache.

The Pin is a kind of heavy metal pin that has both Paragon and Renegade symbols on the sides, with two fasteners on the back. I do have a bit of a gripe with this one, however. In the description of the product of the BioWare store, it says "Use it to display your moral alignment. Or choose between order and chaos with the flick of a finger." You can't actually flick it to switch sides; you have to take off the fasteners if you want to change sides, as the the fasteners block the spinner from turning. Other than that, the spinner is well made.

The steelcase is meant to be for physical disc holders, but it's a very nice case by itself. The physical game I believe has two discs, and both should fit on top of each other in this thing. If by chance you have the Mass Effect Andromeda case, it's similar as far as weight and composition.

The canvas art prints are probably the two that I didn't expect. While the canvas is not thick, the two prints are of great quality. You will, however, need something like 3M adhesive mounts or similar if you plan to hang them up.

And lastly, the helmet. Oh, this helmet is nice. First, the size. Now, I have a big head. Might not have much inside, but physically my head is large, and surprisingly it fits in the helmet. Not much else, however, so if you have long hair I'd suggest a low ponytail. And if you have glasses, you'll have to take them off or wear contacts. There's also an adjustable strap inside to secure your head.

I wouldn't recommend wearing this as your normal day-to-day mask, as there's no real ventilation. The nose holes are not real, but if you can make it work, have at it.

The helmet also has lights! Blue and red. In order to setup the helmet, you need two things -- a small screwdriver and two AA batteries. A convenient thing is the space in the back of the helmet, as there's enough room to turn on and change the color while you're wearing it.

The painting and texture of the helmet itself is meant to be a little bit worn and weathered on purpose, which looks pretty neat. That all said, the helmet is very huge, but if you don't feel like wearing it, I have mine sitting on top of my PC.

Final thoughts? I've owned a lot of Collector Editions for other games and overall, I will say this is one of the cooler ones. While the helmet is definitely the coolest thing of the entire cache, I personally love the canvas art pieces as I have other BioWare ones as well.

Hope that clears things up for those of you interested or are already getting the Legendary Cache! Thanks for watching, if you got this far, please consider giving this video a like! If you didn't, let me know in the comments if you have any Qs.

I'll be back soon for more Legendary Edition. For those of you who are still here, please follow me on Twitter. That's where you'll find me everyday. Life's been kind of weird and hectic, so I haven't been able to regularly updated this Youtube, but I will be here for Mass Effect.

Til then! See you soon, and Fen'harel enansal.
